Guard Closet is thrilled to introduce Ashlee Amos as the newest member of our design team!
With a rich background spanning baton twirling, color guard, and drum corps, Ashlee brings a unique blend of technical expertise and artistic vision to her role. As a USTA Professional member, a new judge, and the drill designer and choreographer for the Rising Sun High School Marching Band, Ashlee is dedicated to fostering creativity and growth within the marching arts community.
Ashlee’s journey began in Maryland, where she followed a family legacy of performing arts. A third-generation twirler, Ashlee’s passion for performance was nurtured early on through her time with the Wheaton Dance/Twirl Teams. Her introduction to color guard came in high school, where she joined the activity as a twirler for her marching band. That decision opened doors to incredible opportunities, including performing with the University of Delaware’s *Delazure*, world-class finalist *AMP Winterguard*, and the *Hawthorne Caballeros* drum corps.
Drawing from her diverse experiences, Ashlee highlights the parallels between baton twirling, color guard, and drum corps. While each discipline has unique characteristics, she emphasizes their shared focus on artistry, technique, and precision. Her technical foundation in twirling provided a solid base as she transitioned into color guard, allowing her to excel in both performance and teaching.
For the past nine years, Ashlee has dedicated herself to coaching high school color guard students and designing and choreographing impactful shows for the Rising Sun High School Marching Band. She instills in her students the importance of mastering basics to build a strong foundation—a philosophy that aligns perfectly with her approach as a USTA judge, where she balances constructive criticism with encouragement to help young athletes thrive and find joy in their craft.
When she’s not shaping the future of the marching arts, Ashlee is making a difference in her community. She works at the Register of Wills for Cecil County, Maryland—a role that combines her organizational skills with a desire to help others during challenging times.
Ashlee’s perspective as both a performer and a judge is invaluable, and her ability to analyze and inspire will no doubt elevate the work we do at Guard Closet. Join us in welcoming Ashlee to the team—we can’t wait to see the creative magic she brings to our clients!
