Guard Closet is excited to welcome Mitchell Stowman to our growing roster of drill designers! With a wealth of experience in music education, program coordination, and visual design, Mitchell brings a unique blend of creativity and precision to every marching band program he works with.
A Proven Leader in the Marching Arts
Mitchell’s journey in the performing arts began as a music educator and eventually led him to serve as the Orchestral Program and Marching Band Director at Cherokee High School in Marlton, NJ. Under his leadership, the Cherokee Marching Band flourished, growing in both size and competitive success, earning multiple championships across competitive circuits.
Before stepping into the director role, Mitchell honed his creative skills as a Program Coordinator, working closely with staff and designers to develop cohesive and innovative productions. This experience equipped him with the expertise to make a profound impact on the programs he collaborates with today.
Design Versatility Meets Artistic Excellence
Mitchell’s freelance drill and visual designs have contributed to the success of numerous competitive programs throughout the East Coast. Known for his adaptability, he tailors his designs to meet the unique needs and goals of each program, ensuring a custom approach that maximizes performance potential.
A Strong Foundation in Music and Education
Mitchell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Temple University, where he studied classical bass with Robert Kesselman of the Philadelphia Orchestra and conducting with Emily Threinen and Koji Otsuki. During his time in Philadelphia, he performed extensively and taught with organizations such as Play On Philly and The Philadelphia String Project, while maintaining a private teaching studio.
Looking Ahead
In 2025, Mitchell will bring his talents to the Mechanicsburg Marching Band staff, further solidifying his reputation as an innovative and impactful designer.
Living in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Sarah, and their two daughters, Mitchell is excited to partner with Guard Closet to provide exceptional drill design services for your marching band.
